We are seeking to hire an experienced General Manager with proven track record in Island Construction projects within the Hospitality who will be responsible for managing the team of unique resort with multiple outlets on British Virgin Islands and developing another new project operated by a private equity company. This challenging opportunity is waiting for a strong personality, for someone who is ready to play an important role with wide range of activities (business, engineering, operations) and deliver an excellent guest experience. Due to the specifics of Caribbean area, deep understanding of island life is necessary in this case.
Business part:
• Establish business plan by surveying demand; conferring with people in the community; identifying and evaluating competitors; preparing financial / marketing / sales analyses and estimates.
• Meet financial objectives by developing financing; preparing strategic forecasts + budgets, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions, establish and monitor controlling processes.
• Control of purchasing processes and inventory; negotiating prices/contracts, developing preferred supplier lists, reviewing and evaluating usage reports, analyzing variance and taking corrective actions.
• Maintain operations by preparing policies and SOPs; implementing production, productivity, quality, and guests-service standards, determining and implementing system improvements.
• Maintain safe, secure and healthy facility environment by establishing and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with health and legal regulations, maintaining security systems.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in the industry; attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices…
• Use all property systems and equipment including PMS, POS, QuickBooks, and all IT/AV and maintenance/utilities installations.
• Accomplish human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching and disciplining management staff (communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring job contributions, reviewing compensation actions, enforcing policies and procedures).
Construction & maintenance part:
• Maintenance and operation of all technical equipment to the highest standards, including but not limited to all water systems (production, distribution), all electrical and audio-visual systems in the properties, regular inspections.
• Assist in the selection and setup of all equipment, spares, and consumables, assist and coordinate regular inventory process.
• Record equipment usage logs and plans preventative maintenance schedules, pest control according to the pest control schedule etc.
• Work on ongoing projects according to priorities – cooperate and support Landscaping, Maintenance, and IT Specialist on different issues (if needed).
Requirements:
• Experience with construction projects (senior level background) – an island experience is the must, proven track record in Hospitality is welcome.
• Action – mind set, managerial skills – familiar with an international environement,
• Technical education, knowledge of MEP, architecture works and installations (the freshwater and rainwater systems, air condition systems, irrigation cisterns and pumps, optical cables maintenance, TV support, dish network maintenance…)
• perfect communication in English language (written and spoken),
• single status preferred, discretion and loyalty, respect for local culture.
